Creating Subdivision Blocks for Use in Automatic Component Placement for Early-Stage Navy Ship Design

Due to the increased size and complexity of components, Navy ships need to be designed earlier in their creation. By using the dimensions of components and the capacity of sections of a ship, a 3D layout of the components in the ship can be generated. Thus far, initial development has been done to automate placement of components in a set region. Further work must be done to input the size of space that components need to fit into depending on the shape and size of any particular ship. My goal of this research is to extract the dimensions of the subdivision blocks in a ship, and to implement it with the current component placement algorithm.
