MIT Sea Grant is a leader in technological and scientific advances in the marine field. Our competitive research funding programs promote research that contributes to the wise stewardship of coastal and ocean resources. Principal Investigators who are eligible to apply to submit an external proposal by rules of his/her home institution may apply for the following:
CORE RFP
MIT Sea Grant provides competitive funding opportunities through our Core Request For Proposals (RFP) for Massachusetts research scientists who seek to address marine issues in ways that benefit the Commonwealth.
MIT Sea Grant has increased our Core RFP funding this year, welcoming proposals up to $170,000 annually, for a total of $340,000 over a two-year period. A 50% non-federal match will be required.
MIT Sea Grant will focus FY2024 funding resources on the following areas of research:
Coastal and/or offshore aquaculture
Ocean acidification
Mitigating marine debris
Biotechnology for ocean sustainability
Technology for observation, underwater manipulation, and fisheries management
