Informed by Massachusetts constituents and the National Sea Grant College Program, our four focus areas are consistent with the goals and objectives identified in NOAA’s Next Generation Strategic Plan, which focuses on climate adaptation and mitigation, weather-ready nation, healthy oceans, and resilient coastal communities and economies.
FUNDED RESEARCH FOCUS
Through our FY2026-2028 RFP, we will focus our funding resources on the following areas of research:
- Sustainable aquaculture and seafood processing
- Offsetting climate impacts to coastal and ocean environments
- Tracking and preventing impacts of marine debris
- Ocean applications of biotechnology
- Engineering for ocean uses
- Decarbonization of fisheries and the seafood industry
