MIT Sea Grant is accepting nominations for the Dean Horn Award
MIT Sea Grant is now accepting nominations for the Dean Horn Award. The award recognizes an MIT undergraduate student for their excellence in design and execution of a marine related research project and for clear communication of results.2018 Nominations are due May 10thAll MIT undergraduates from any department are eligible. An award of $1000 and a certificate will be presented at the end of May.Dean A. Horn was Director of MIT Sea Grant from 1975 to 1982. The Award originated upon his retirement in 1983, when friends and colleagues established the award in his name to honor and perpetuate Horn’s many contributions to undergraduate marine education: his spirit of service, creativity, pursuit of excellence, and tireless application to research.How To Nominate: Nominations must come from the student’s faculty supervisor and must be accompanied by the student’s research report. Please send a email to seagrantinfo@mit.edu with both documents using the subject Dean Horn Award. Students are encouraged to ask their faculty supervisor for a nomination. Final selection will be made by Sea Grant Director Professor Michael Triantafyllou, in consultation with members of the Sea Grant Advisory Committee.
