Community Mourns Loss of Seven Aboard F/V Lily Jean off Coast of Gloucester

We extend our sincere condolences to the families, loved ones and fishing community in the wake of the tragic loss of seven on board the F/V Lily Jean off the coast of Gloucester. This loss is deeply felt across our coastal communities.

The 72-foot fishing vessel went down off the coast of Cape Ann on the morning of January 30th. The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating what caused Lily Jean to sink.

The seven crew members have been identified as Captain Accursio “Gus” Sanfilippo, Paul Beal Sr., Paul Beal Jr., John Rousanidis, Freeman Short, Sean Therrien, and NOAA fisheries observer Jada Samitt. Donations for the families can be made via Fishing Partnership Support Services and by noting that the donation is for Lily Jean.
