Lorentz Force Turbulence Control Summary Report July 2003-September 2004.

A fully automated laser data acquisition system at the MIT Marine Hydrodynamics Laboratory allowed these researchers to use a boundary layer profile analysis in studying turbulence control. The goal was to determine the effects of Lorentz forcing in a turbulent boundary layer. Results showed that local wall shear was reduced with the presence of electromagnetic forcing in the fluid. Force measurements indicated no total drag reduction by a Lorentz force mechanism.
