The sudden failure of rope in marine service may cause severe damage to people or equipment. To study the failure mechanisms of synthetic ropes and predict their mechanical behavior, it is important to develop appropriate theoretical models. This report examines the mechanical properties of double-braided synthetic ropes by combining their structural features and the constitutive behavior of individual rope components.
