This report describes the findings from bench-scale tests performed at the City of Chicago South Water Purification Plant, a conventional water treatment plant. The tests evaluated chitosan and bentonite as a viable chemical coagulant combination for the treatment of Lake Michigan water. The paper presents results for investigations of temperature, pH, turbidity and particle count.
