This paper describes the gear, methods and findings for this experimental tuna fishery with pair trawls. During the experiment, headrope depth and tow duration were monitored, and protocols were established to minimize bycatch. Included are detailed summaries of trip data. The resulting low bycatch levels indicate that midwater pair trawling may be the preferred method for harvesting albacore, yellowfin, and bigeye tuna.
