Sensor and Navigation Issues for Unmanned Underwater Vehicle

This report is a compilation of synopses of presentations given at a workshop held at MIT in January, 1991. Topics encompass current research in acoustic sensor technology, inertial navigation systems, sensor fusion, navigation algorithms and neural nets. Specific topics include, among others, synthetic aperture sonar, optical gyroscopes, dolphin echolocation and building qualitative elevation maps from side-scan sonar. A bibliography is appended.
