1989
MITSG 89-14J

This work discusses the application of geometric modelling in computer-aided engineering of complex systems such as ships and offshore structures. Methods of shape representation and interrogation in the computer are identified and their salient features are analyzed to allow understanding of their strengths and limitations in the context of different applications. Issues of data exchange between systems of different inherent capabilities are also discussed. Finally, some other open problems in this field are identified.
