A parametric wind wave model for arbitrary water depths

This paper derives a finite depth wind wave model by extending methodologies and concepts developed in the context of deep-water wind wave models to include finite depth effects. A hybrid parametric wind wave model is based on an energy flux transport formulation and includes shoaling, refraction, and bottom frictional dissipation, as well as finite depth modifications of the atmospheric input of non-linear wave-wave interaction source terms. The model is applied to predict wave characteristics resulting from a complex frontal system that passed over an Atlantic site; predicted behavior is in agreement with observations.
