Clifford A. Goudey

Fourteen articles are contained in this report on fishing gear design and testing. Aided by charts, figures, and graphs, the author explains how gear efficiency is influenced by headrope flotation, bridle geometry, and rigging adjustments. He also reports on several shrimp trawls and details his adaptation of a three-in-one trawl for shrimping. Results from model tests of the Cape May rope net, a midwater pair trawl, and fishing gear for a 334' factory trawler are presented, along with articles on net plan notations, gear selectivity, and a new vehicle for underwater gear observation.
