Compliant riser analysis

A general mathematical model describing the global behavior of a compliant riser idealized as a slender, non-rotationally uniform rod with bending, extensional and torsional degrees of freedom in three dimensions is presented. The embedding technique used to solve the 2-D static problem is illustrated, and numerical results for a Chinese Lantern configuration are presented and discussed.
