Linear dynamics of compliant risers

The objectives of this work are to: (1) derive the governing equations for linear dynamics of a compliant riser idealized as a slender non-rotationally uniform rod with bending, extensional and torsional degrees of freedom; (2) analyze a novel combination of efficient embedding and asymptotic techniques used to solve the 3-D linear dynamic problem of a compliant riser with a planar static configuration; and (3) present numerical examples for the linear dynamic analysis of a buoyant compliant riser in the presence and absence of external current.
