ACCEPTED PAPERS AND POSTERS

There will be approximately 98 oral presentations and 48 poster presentations by authors from around the world. The oral presentations will commence on Monday, May 21 at 8:55 am and conclude on Thursday, May 24, at 1:00 pm. There will be three plenary speakers who will kick off each day of the conference excluding Thursday.

The regular talks will be 20 minutes total, including 5 minutes for a Q and A session. The plenary talks will be 45 minutes total including a 5-8 minute Q and A session.

Posters

Participants are encouraged to set up their posters starting at 9:00 am Monday morning (May 21) where they will remain for the duration of the conference. The Poster Session will be on Wednesday, May 23 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Kresge Auditorium on the MIT Campus. Poster presenters will be available to discuss their work during the poster session and Light Refreshments will be available.

Large 4' x 8' poster display boards will be set up and each presenter will be allotted a 4' x 4' (1.22mx1.22m) or 4' x 6' vertical space (1.22mx1.83m vertical space) for his/her poster. If more space is needed, please inform llenker@mit.edu as soon as possible. Only pushpins or thumb tacks can be used to hang posters, not tape, Velcro or adhesive. There will be pushpins and/or thumb tacks available for conference participants.

Language

The official language of the conference is English.

Agenda and Abstract Books

A conference agenda booklet and a book of abstracts for the talks and posters will be distributed at the conference.

Proceedings Papers

Selected papers will be published in the ICES Journal Special Issue: Fifth International Conference on Marine Bioinvasions. Final versions of papers are due on or before the first day of the conference and this is a firm deadline. The ICES Journal of Marine Science Guide to Authors was sent to all abstract contributors, if you would like a copy, please email llenker@mit.edu.

A/V Requirements

Please provide Judith Pederson with your presentation materials before the conference, if possible. Presentations can be emailed in advance to jpederso@mit.edu and marked MBIC 2007, speaker's name, talk title and date of presentation. When saving the electronic version of your presentation, please make sure to include your name and title of your talk.

A laptop will be available for oral presenters. It is recommended that you use the laptop provided to ensure speedy transitions between speakers. In order to ensure smooth transitions, you must either email your presentation to Judith Pederson in advance of the conference or have your memory stick, CD-Rom presented to the Audio Visual technician the morning of your talk. Audio Visual technicians will be on hand at the conference throughout the sessions. There will be a microphone for the Q and A sessions. If any other equipment is needed, please email llenker@mit.edu as soon as possible to make appropriate arrangements.

Speakers should ensure that all slides are legible and can be read even from the back of the auditorium. Please try to avoid type fonts that look like handwriting as these are extremely hard to read when projected. Overly detailed tables and complex graphs are not recommended.

There will be a laptop and room to review your talk before your presentation.
